This day in HISTOROCK !! Ringo Starr !!

        This day in HISTOROCK !!

In 1962, Richard Starkey, better known as Ringo Starr made his debut with The Beatles at a show in Birkenhead, England, having had a two-hour rehearsal in preparation. This was the first appearance of The Beatles as the world would come to know them: John, Paul, George, and Ringo !! Ringo spent only 8 years with The Beatles before they broke up on April 10,1970 and was always considered as he called himself "just your basic offbeat drummer", but alas this is not the case. Ringo is better than average !! He has been called a great drummer, so much so that he was voted by Rolling Stone magazine as the 55th best drummer of all time !! I always thought Ringo was a great drummer, but was surprised to find him that high up !! Phil Collins for one was influenced by Ringo. He said : “Ringo is vastly underrated. The drum fills on the song "A Day in the Life" are very complex things. You could take a great drummer today and say, 'I want it like that.' He wouldn't know what to do.” Ringo has had a very successful career since the end of The Beatles !! After the breakup he released 2 solo albums and had hits with, You're Sixteen, Photograph & It Don't Come Easy !! Since 1990, Ringo has fronted his All-Starr band, touring the US to sold-out crowds !! The All-Starr band has included some great players: Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Billy Preston(The 5th Beatle), The Band's Levon Helm and Rick Danko, Nils Lofgren, Clarence Clemons, Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter, Todd Rundgren, Dave Edmunds, Timothy B. Schmit, and Jim Keltner !! A true ALL-STAR lineup !! To some it comes easy, but to most "It Don't Come Easy" :-) Here is some great video with some of those All-Star legends !! Enjoy :-)

Keep on ROCKIN !!
Trike :-)
