In 2004, one of Eric Clapton`s prize guitars, "Blackie," a black-and-white Fender Stratocaster, sold for $959,500 at an auction that raised more than $7.4 million for Crossroads Centre, a drug treatment facility !! Founded in 1997, Crossroads Centre, was created to provide treatment and education to chemically dependent people, those with other compulsive addictive behaviors . “Lenny,” the guitar Stevie Ray Vaughan played from the 1970s until his death in 1990, sold for $623,500. The guitar was donated by Vaughan`s estate !! There was a group of 56 guitars up for auction . Eric Clapton talking about the guitars he donated, said : "These guitars are in fact the ones that I kept back from the first auction because I seriously couldn't consider parting with them at that point … I think they are a really good representation of Rock Culture ... all great Rock and Blues guitars." !! Other guitars personally owned by Eric Clapton include a custom, gold-leaf decorated Fender Stratocaster, numbered EC-1, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the model, the Gibson L-5-P, 1948, fitted with Alnico pickups, and the Fender Stratocaster, known as "The Rainbow Rod," circa 1996, with an iridescent finish, created by Roy Brizio, the famed Californian hot rod builder !! Pete Townsend's Signature SG Gibson, Brian May's Les Paul Model, JJ Cale's 1979 Stratocaster and BB King's autographed BB King Lucille Model were just some of the other guitars on this incredible list of 56 !!
