                        In 2011 in Tokyo, Tits, Tats & Whiskers  met at artist Ponzi's (the current guitarist) painting exhibition. Their mutual love for tattoos, beards, and rock music brought the band together like vagabonds in the wind to park. Jamming covers and drinking sessions inspired studio experimentation and eventually a desire to write their own music. Originally composing and performing as a four-piece rock band Tits, Tats & Whiskers streamlined, settled and started rolling as a trio in 2012. The band is now comprised of Ponzi from the USA (Guitar/Vocal), Mattia from Italy (Drum/ Percussion) and Astrid from the Philippines (Bass/Vocal). And despite the varied races and backgrounds, the band is united by a common passion for music and having fun.

                        The band's music is basically naked rock, heavily influenced by 90's artists such as the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and more. Ponzi's vocals range from the angsty scream to a mellow whisper and has been known to sound very much like Tom Waits.  Mattia's drums are powerful owing to his background as a metal drummer. Astrid's bass is simple yet fluid and solid effectively tying the songs together. They have songs that can make you jump and dance, think about life, or just chill and relax. Listening to them play makes one reminisce about the good old 90's, a time for grunge and honest rock and roll.

                        After the Fukushima earthquake, between 2011 and 2012 the band performed in many charity events (including one for Typhoon Yolanda) and raised large amounts of donations for the victims and restoration of the area. Within 2013, the band actively played in live shows with several other bands and fortunately received propositions such as gigs in prestigious venues in the most happening areas of Tokyo. The band's songs have also been featured on-air in some radios in Tokyo and other countries. The band continues to play regular live shows in the metro up to the present. On February 15th, 2014 Tits, Tats & Whiskers released their first independent 9-track album “All The Things”, which is be available online and on TT&W web site from February.
                        The band was kind enough to send me some advance songs from the album :-)  "Fumble Around" is a fast paced in your face track with Ponzi and Astrid on vocals . "Three Days Before Friday" and "Waiting In Line" have that classic 90's Seattle grunge sound but with  TT&W's own unique style !! Ponzi's vocal style has been compared to Tom Waits and this comparison is never more evident then it is on "If It Isn't Tomorrow Today" a song that fools you with it's almost jazzy opening before exploding in typical TT&W fashion . "Far Out But Not Far Down" is an absolutely brilliant song !! From the opening haunting sounds of Ponzi's guitar before it and his voice erupts into a fit of rage !!  Astrid's clean and precise bass lines and Mattia's heart stopping drum style make this a can't miss !! I wish Tits, Tats & Whiskers the best of luck with "ALL The Things" but I think the music will do all the talking and it will be talking very LOUDLY !! The way I like to describe TT&W is like getting a kiss on the cheek followed by a kick in the teeth !! It will be the only time you enjoy getting your teeth kicked in :-) Don't forget : LLB !! Tits = something we all weaned from and still love. Tats = the body is a temple and a canvas. Whiskers = all the more to love you baby
