     ARE YOU GOING TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS SUMMER ?     

                                                    Spring is here and it's time to start thinking about outdoor summer music festivals ! There are thousands and thousands of festivals all over the world each summer . Big or small events , local or international bands , these festivals all have their own identity and following .
                                  Some of the festivals in Europe are the Reading Festival in UK as well as the Glastonbury Festival which this year features The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary tour ! In the U.S. there is Lollapalooza in Chicago , IL and Rockapalooza in Jackson , MI and these are just a few of the thousands of shows around the world each year . The great thing about these festivals is outside of the headliners , you get to see a lot of great indie bands who receive lots of exposure playing in these festivals !!
                                  In Canada we have some of the best festivals in the world ! Two take place in Montreal , Quebec in Parc Jean Drapeau which is a man made island and the former home of Expo67 ! The first is the Osheaga Music Festival which takes place this year Aug.2,3,4 . It has 78 bands over 3 days on 5 stages and features a wide range of musical genres  : alternative , dance , rock , punk , pop , rap , hip hop ! Some bands playing this year are : The Cure , New Order ,  Mumford and Sons , Flogging Molly , Alt J , The Gaslight Anthem to name a few .                                                     One week later also at Parc Jean Drapeau it's Heavy MTL Aug 10-11 !This festival is all METAL and has 31 bands !! Tickets for this event are : General admission $135 and Reserved seating $220 ! Some of the bands playing this year are : Megadeth , Halestorm , Avenged Sevenfold , Rob Zombie , Machine Head , Danzig to name a few !                                                     Here in Moncton ,N.B. we have the Magnetic Hill Music Festival which is a one day event featuring anywhere form 3-5 bands .The concert site is a beautiful outdoor venue built on a hill which holds around 100,000 people and is one of the largest outdoor venues in Canada ! It was originally built for a papal mass with Pope John Paul II in 1984 and later converted to an outdoor concert venue ! There has been nothing announced for this year so far ! We have had some big names on the Hill in the past such as : The Rolling Stones who hold the attendance record at 89,260 , U2 , AC/DC , Bruce Springsteen and The Eagles to name a few . Hopefully an announcement will be made soon as to who is on the Hill this year !! Here's hoping to a grrreat summer of MUSIC !!
