This day in HISTOROCK !! Queen !!

        This day in HISTOROCK !!

In 1986, Queen gave what would be their last ever live performance when they appeared at Knebworth Park in England. The last two songs the band played were ''We Are The Champions'' and ''God Save The Queen''. Over 120,000 fans attended the show, also on the bill were Big Country, Belouis Some and Status Quo !!  Advanced tickets cost £14.50, about $27 Canadian. What a steal !!

This is what Queen saw from the stage !!

No one knew at the time that this would be Queen's very last show and that Freddie had contracted the aids virus and was becoming very ill. This was only made public the day before Freddie's death in 1991 !!  A sad day indeed for rock and roll !! The end of an incredible era !! One of the greatest voices ever in ROCK or any other genre for that matter !! Queen was such a  versatile and groundbreaking group !! Perfect example was the album "Night At The Opera", which had the vaudeville style "Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon" to the classic "Bohemian Rhapsody" which was a fusion of genres that radio had never experienced before and may never again !!  RIP Freddie and RIP Queen :-(  Unfortunately there is only average video of the large screen behind the band, but the audio is really good !! Here is the entire show on YouTube !! Check it out !!

Keep on ROCKIN !!
Trike :-)
